Events now appear on business profiles

Events on HowfenConnect are now linked to the businesses behind them. If a listed business runs an event, or hosts one, it shows on their profile, and every listed business has its own events page.

What has changed

Events on your profile. 
Every business profile now has a What's on section showing the next two upcoming events connected to that business. It uses the same event cards as the main What's On page, so the information is identical wherever people see it. Once an event has passed it drops off automatically, and if there is nothing coming up the section does not appear at all. Nobody's profile will show an event from six months ago.

Your own events page. 
Each business now has an events page of its own, listing every event it runs or hosts, upcoming and past, with the business name as the heading. A View all our events link appears on the profile when there is more to see than the two shown.

Run by and held at. 
An event can be connected to two businesses: the one running it and the venue holding it. A craft fair at a listed pub, organised by a listed maker, appears on both profiles. Until now an event could only be linked to one.

Submitting an event. 
The submission form at howfenconnect.co.uk/events/submit now asks who is running the event, chosen from the list of businesses on the directory, and optionally where it is being held if the venue is listed too. Events submitted this way arrive already linked to the right profiles.

Why it matters

Events and business profiles were two separate parts of the site that never referred to each other. Now a business's events are visible to anyone who finds their profile, and anyone who finds an event can get to the business behind it in one click. Because events have dates, the whole thing keeps itself tidy without anyone having to maintain it.

For listed businesses

If you run events, classes, markets or anything with a date, submit them at howfenconnect.co.uk/events/submit and select your business under Run by. If you host events at your premises, ask the organiser to set you as the venue.
